Lessons in Food Journaling, The Runners Guide to Life and C25K

I had forgotten how quickly C25K ramps up the running in the 6th week. W6D1 in the books and ran 18 out of the 20 minutes and was totally excited. Part of the inspiration I’m sure, was finishing reading last night The Runner’s Guide to the Meaning of Life by Amby Burfoot, winner of the 1968 Boston Marathon. Being only in W6 was a bit embarrassed to have picked up this book, like I was calling myself a

9 Days and Counting, Mini-Meltdown

Today marked 9 days in a row working out which I’m pretty sure is a lifetime record for me. No matter how consistent I have been, the weekends have been left out for some reason. The 1st Team Beachbody Program I ever completed long ago was Kathy Smith, Project You, Type 2 and was 90 days long. Kevin and I both did the whole program from beginning to end and even that was only 6 days a week. I have completely embraced

No rain this morning, darn it and finished W1D3 of C25K. Except for the Tuesday Toe Issue, this was a great workout week and I feel so good mentally about myself. Excuse me, while I spend a minute freeze-framing this sweaty, hot joy. OK, I’m back and sipping on my Tropical Vegan Shakeology which has 6 huge Swiss Chard leaves from my CSA added. Priority #1 Check. Priority #2 Check. Priority #3 in process. Have lots of running around

So glad I freeze framed how great I felt yesterday when I got home from my C25K. When I woke up this morning, I hesitated for just a moment and then started getting dressed. Imagine my surprise, when I opened the front door and it was raining. Not the typical occasional little drizzle I like to call rain. Real rain with big drops, making noise and all the ground was wet. I stood there for a few

Well, there you have it. Once you commit and then start following the plan, new habits, however tenuous begin to form. In my rebel mode I stayed up really late every night this weekend. Yesterday we then got up early to take Kevin to breakfast for Dad’s Day. After yawning all day yesterday good sense would tell me to go to bed so I could get up early this morning to work out and go to work.

I am a suburban jogger, which means I am running on normal neighborhood sidewalks. I can pass a golf course, a Circle K market , an apartment complex and a chiropractor office on the same morning. And today there were lots of folks out there and had to step into the passing lane several times and everyone nods and says good morning and smiles at each other. This morning I noticed there were also a lot of snails and

Team Beachbody Summit, A Very Weighty Issue & Overcoming Exercise Reluctance

Today is the last day of week 2 of my 6 Week Eat to Live Plan for Aggressive Weight Loss and tomorrow is weigh in day. I am pretty sure this is the longest I have ever gone without any oils in my adult life with the exception of the 10 months I was Optifast and never ate anything. Thinking about tomorrow being weigh in day, it dawned on me next week at the time I will be on the road to Las Vegas for the Team Beachbody Convention and will miss the weigh in day for the end of

The telephone in our bedroom is very tricky to hang up. Unless you line it up exactly, it is ‘off the hook.’ When Dylan called to let us know he was done with work last night, I did not hang it up exactly right. For the last 2 weeks I have been getting up pretty early to get my exercise over with before I could change my mind. This morning I chose to sleep another 45 minutes and asked Kevin to

Sitting down at my desk this morning I was feeling kind of cocky about how on track I was. Week 2 Day 1 Couch to 5K done. Check. Beginning Week 2 Day 5 of my 6 Week Plan for Eating to Live starting and feeling good. Check. Breakfast Shakeolgy made and tasting delicious. Maybe my smoothie was the first signal. Was concentrating so deeply on what I wanted to journal, I

Working on the Perfection Expectation by the Recovering Perfectionist

Saturday morning, Week 2 Day 3 of my Dr Fuhrman Eat to Live 6 Week Challenge and noticing how things are a bit different this morning. For one thing, Kevin is still home and sound asleep and so is Dylan who worked until 1:30 am this morning. I am the only one up. It is not a C25K day so did not roll out of bed and into running clothes and tiptoeing around instead. Still tweaking and refining my schedule to support the priorities of my One Thing – Ideal Health. And trying to hyper-ventilate by doing a few Saturday
